Single Stripe Brass Insert for Thermal & Ultrasonic Installation

The 40/SC Single Stripe Brass Heat Set Insert is designed to provide strong, reliable metal threads in thermoplastic materials. Engineered for installation using either thermal (heat) or ultrasonic insertion methods, these inserts deliver excellent pull-out resistance and high torque performance while minimizing stress on the surrounding plastic.

Suitable for post-molding installation, SC inserts allow manufacturers to add durable threaded fastening points after the molding process, offering greater production flexibility while achieving performance comparable to overmolded inserts.

Thermal & Ultrasonic Installation

The installation process softens the surrounding thermoplastic material using heat or ultrasonic energy. As the insert is pressed into place, the plastic flows into the precision-engineered knurls and retention features. Once cooled, the material solidifies around the insert, creating a secure mechanical bond with exceptional holding strength.

The Single Stripe design is specifically developed to maximize grip and retention within thermoplastic materials while ensuring consistent installation performance.

  • Electrical equipment
  • Medical devices
  • Telecommunications products
  • Industrial equipment
  • Injection molded components
  • 3D printed thermoplastic parts

Installation Guidelines

Thermal Installation

A heated insertion tip softens the plastic, allowing the insert to be pressed into the prepared hole. As the component cools, the material locks into the insert's retention features.

Ultrasonic Installation

Ultrasonic vibration generates localized heat, allowing rapid insertion while producing excellent retention and thread strength.

Best Practice

  1. Position the insert in the molded or drilled hole.
  2. Apply controlled heat or ultrasonic energy.
  3. Allow the plastic to soften around the insert.
  4. Press the insert into its final position.
  5. Allow the plastic to cool completely before applying load.

Important Notes

  • Soften the plastic rather than fully melting it.
  • Avoid excessive installation temperatures.
  • Use controlled insertion pressure for optimum performance.
  • Do not move or load the insert immediately after installation.
  • Allow adequate cooling time to achieve maximum holding strength.
