Ring Oblong © Spacer Insert

The Ring-Oblong® spacer insert is pressed into the pre-made plastic part of your design. The ridge line (which is formed as part of the plastic moulding) compresses and allows the insert to pass through the plastic part. Once the insert is pressed into the plastic part, the groove in the insert locks onto the ridge line preventing vertical movement but allowing for lateral movement within the plastic parts channel. This in turn allows easy insertion and placement of a fixing through the spacer insert. The channel in the plastic moulding allows the spacer insert to be moved into place, in turn allowing for easy alignment of the plastic part with the fixing that it is being attached.

This process replaces the need to use a standard spacer and drill accurate holes between two components with zero tolerance.

It also replaces the alternative of producing and fitting an expensive brass spacer that is the same shape as the entire hole drilled into the plastic part.

Therefore offering a saving of time and costs for both assembly and production over current processes.
